Charta Visa is a private service — not the government

This page says plainly who we are, what we are not, what we charge, and how you can apply without us. We would rather you know all of it before you pay anything.

Who we are

Charta Visa is operated by Charta Labs, LLC, a private company incorporated in New York, USA. We offer guided applications, error checks and submission to the issuing authority on your behalf, in 10 languages. Our Terms of Service, Privacy Policy and Refund Policy are public: Terms, Privacy, Refunds.

What we are not

Not a government website. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operating on behalf of the U.S. Government, the European Union, the United Kingdom, Canada, or any consulate, embassy or immigration authority.
Not an embassy or consulate. We never issue an authorization or a visa. Only the official portals below do.
Not a law firm. We do not provide legal or immigration advice. Complex cases (prior denials, criminal history, immigration violations) belong with a licensed immigration attorney.
Not a shortcut.Using us does not speed up the government's decision and does not make an approval more likely. Approval, denial and entry are the authority's call, and the border officer's.

Every authorization we help with can be filed by you, on the government's own site, for the government fee alone. These are the official portals:

U.S. Customs and Border Protection has publicly warned about third-party ESTA sites. From its release of May 26, 2021: “Officers at U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) have noticed an increasing number of third-party sites claiming to help foreign travelers apply for the Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA).”
Read the CBP release. We agree with it: only esta.cbp.dhs.gov issues an ESTA, and a private service is optional help — never a requirement.

The service fee is flat — $39 for the instant authorizations and $149 for the interview-based DS-160 — and it is always shown separately from the government fee, which we never mark up. Optional processing-speed surcharges change how fast we review and file, not how fast the government answers. Promo codes discount our fee only. Full details on the pricing page.

The Refund Guarantee add-on ($14.99; $29.98 for the DS-160)

If the government denies an eligible, complete application, we refund the full service fee.

It is void only when the failure is the applicant's own:

the nationality is not eligible for the product applied for
the passport does not qualify (no number, or expired)
an eligibility / security declaration was answered in a disqualifying way

It never covers the government fee (which the authority keeps whether it approves or not) and it is not a promise of approval.

The government fee is always shown separately; for the DS-160 the $185 USD MRV fee is paid by you directly to the U.S. government, not to us.
